Southeast of Gann Valley, South Dakota June 18, 2014. Sketchy situation… Soon after this image this ground scraping mesocyclone begins dropping tornadoes everywhere. Shooting time-lapse, I wanted to hold my position as long as possible but when I counted four tornadoes I knew I had to bail. It appeared as if the entire meso might squat and become a giant wedge. With images of El Reno dancing in my head I packed up cameras and tripods and escaped south into a very wet RFD with zero visability.
